Market leader EMIL DEISS KG will be presenting innovative solutions for greater sustainability at the world's largest trade fair for cleaning and hygiene products, Interclean, from 17-24 May 2024 in Amsterdam. The long-established Hamburg-based company regularly adds further environmentally friendly and practical products to its range of over 5,000 different branded and standard items.

Less is now actually more:
Less resource consumption and CO2 footprint. More environmental and climate protection.

Not only does it sound clean, it is now also certified: DEISS can now even provide certified proof of the ecological benefits of its PREMIUM PLUS garbage bags and make reliable statements about the life cycle assessment of this high-tech product.  "It is becoming increasingly important for our customers to pay attention to the CO2 footprint of the entire supply chain in order to fulfil their own climate targets," says Managing Director Clemens Eichler. "Greenwashing really doesn't help our customers with responsible corporate policies when it comes to climate and environmental protection. We need independent analyses and certificates that provide factual evidence of our product benefits in terms of resource conservation and environmental and climate protection," Eichler continues.

On behalf of the cyclos-HTP Institute, an IHK expert for packaging disposal has now investigated the ecological advantages in terms of raw material usage of optimised formulations for the production of garbage bags in comparison to the standard alternative with approximately the same functionalities.
A standard bin liner was compared with a DEISS PREMIUM PLUS garbage bags of the same size, which differ in terms of material composition and weight, but are supposed to have the same physical properties in terms of tear resistance. The result is convincing: with around 24% less weight and up to 30% less film thickness, the PREMIUM PLUS has the same tensile strength as the classic garbage bag thanks to the high-performance polymers used. And that with a recyclate content of 93%.

Good for the environment and for the eco-balance of the customers of the market leader from northern Germany.

The examination of the life cycle assessment by the IFEU Institute for Energy and Environmental Research in Heidelberg, taking into account all relevant parameters, confirms the positive picture: the lower use of materials and the resulting lower weight mean that large quantities of CO2 can be saved during production and transport. The reduced disposal costs due to the 30% lower use of materials also improves the life cycle assessment. The fact that this product range from DEISS is manufactured in Germany is not only an advantage in terms of rapid availability, but also an additional benefit for climate protection: the high German environmental standards in production, the short transport routes and the use of guaranteed 100% green electricity from the region are a real plus in the CO2 balance.

RE:SOURCE: Genuine 100% recycled PCR and awarded the Blue Angel eco-label.

The best material for the environment is recycled material. For the RE:SOURCE garbage bags, for example, DEISS uses genuine 100% post-consumer recyclate (PCR) without the addition of a masterbatch with colour pigments and turns it into a new, sensible product that saves valuable raw materials, energy and resources and protects the environment from waste. The fact that no colour pigments are even added underlines the high environmental standard that DEISS meets with RE:SOURCE.

LOOP PLUS: The Green Dot consistently to the point.

DEISS uses Systalen® LD 3.0, a high-quality recyclate from Der Grüne Punkt, for its LOOP PLUS garbage bags. "We are increasingly focussing on the topic of recyclate from household collection," explains Karen Queitsch, Managing Director of Sustainability and Innovation at the SUND Group, to which DEISS belongs. "The recyclates from Der Grüne Punkt help us take a decisive step forward." Thanks to the cooperation with Der Grüne Punkt, it was possible to develop the LOOP PLUS, a garbage bag that consists of almost 100% recycled material, of which a full 40% comes from household waste from the Yellow Bin. "With the LOOP PLUS, we were able to master the special production requirements that arise from the use of household-related materials from the Yellow Bin and are proud to have taken a major step towards a genuine circular economy," reports DEISS Managing Director Clemens Eichler. The LOOP PLUS has been awarded the Blue Angel and the RAL quality mark for its environmental friendliness.

FIRST PLUS PCR: Climate-neutralised bin liners made from 80% PCR with 45% CO2 savings.

DEISS also focuses on climate protection and resource conservation when it comes to smaller bin liners: the FIRST PLUS PCR bin liners are made from special LDPE film, an impressive 80% of which is made from post-consumer recyclate (PCR). These bags therefore make an important contribution to the circular economy. The CO2 savings are a remarkable 45% and the FIRST PLUS PCR bags are even 100% climate neutralised thanks to Gold Standard climate protection projects.

At Interclean, market leader DEISS will be demonstrating the opportunities offered by a clean future.

In addition to existing innovations, DEISS will also give visitors to Interclean a glimpse into a clean future. Exciting and visionary research projects on the development of biocircular plastics show the way to a more circular economy and demonstrate that not all plastics are the same.

DEISS can be seen from 14-17 May 2024 at Interclean in Hall 11 / Stand 305 or on the web at www.deiss.de.
